SMC Pneumatics will make their debut appearance at the Total Processing & Packaging Exhibition at the National Exhibition Centre, from 4 to 6 June, on stand J70 in hall 5.
Incorporating Pakex, the PPMA show and Interphex, the Total Processing and Packaging Exhibition covers many sectors of industry, providing manufacturers with an opportunity to investigate new approaches and technologies to enhance their products – all under one roof.
As well as many of the pneumatic solutions for which the Corporation is renowned, SMC’s stand – one of the largest in the entire event at over 120m2 – will also showcase some products for which they are less well known, including ionisers, heat exchangers, electric actuators, process filtration and clean room equipment.
Last time SMC UK exhibited at a major show, at the PPMA exhibition in 2011, their stand included a first for that event – a production cell assembling real-time customer orders for valve manifolds. This year at Total Processing and Packaging, SMC will be showing another live assembly cell, this time manufacturing control systems.
Product Promotions Manager for SMC UK, Pete Humphreys, explains: “By supplying control systems as well as components like FRL, valves and actuators, SMC can provide cost efficiencies for our customers’ businesses by converting some of their fixed costs into variable costs. Control systems can contain combinations of pneumatics, electronics and electrical parts, and whether you want just one panel or to order the same panels again in the future, SMC offers a cost-effective solution and has the capacity for both”.
In 2012, SMC Corporation was voted one of the world’s top 100 most innovative companies for the second consecutive year by prestigious business publisher Forbes. Pete Humphreys continues: “Receiving that accolade for two years running is testament to our constant commitment to providing our customers with the innovative solutions they need to improve their efficiency and profitability. Visitors to our Innovations Centre at our Milton Keynes manufacturing facility frequently tell us we’ve surprised them by showing them products that they had no idea we offer. So at the Total Processing and Packaging Exhibition show, we’ll show some of those products to a wider audience to emphasise that although our core strength is pneumatics, we can provide so much more.”
The Total Processing & Packaging Exhibition runs from Tuesday 4 to Thursday 6 June in hall 5 at the National Exhibition Centre, near Birmingham, with SMC on stand J70.
