Techdrives has launched a new website (www.techdrives.co.uk) that gives machine builders clearer, faster and easier access to information about drive products. Techdrives specialises in drive components that remain essential building blocks for machine building, despite the trend towards greater sophistication and machine intelligence; such products include shaft couplings, brakes and torque limiters. Techdrives brings together all the technical information – flyers, catalogues, manuals, software and guides – in one place to save time for machine designers.
An example of a mechanical building block for machinery is the spiral bevel gearbox that has input and output axes at 90 degrees to each other. Techdrives offers Vogel gearboxes that are packed in the form of a compact cube; these gearboxes are designed for an operating life of 20,000 hours and have as little as 4 arc-mins of backlash. Options include ratios from 1 to 6, and single, double or hollow shafts. As well as a catalogue download, there is a product presentation (724kB PDF) that explains the design details such as gearing and seals.
Spring-applied brakes for stopping and holding duties are another component available with comprehensive support data. The modular BFK458 range has a torque range from 2 to 600Nm and a long-life variant can achieve more than 10 million operations. Downloads from the Techdrives page include the catalogue, manual, B10 lifetime data for safety calculations, and a useful brake sizing guide (545kB PDF).
Techdrives is a division of Lenze Ltd and Techdrives products are available packaged with those of Lenze. Strong technical support is available for machine builders, and products carry a two-year warranty.
