WEG will be exhibiting its extensive range of energy-efficient motors, drives and generators on stand 178 (hall 6, aisle J) at POLLUTEC, which takes place at Lyon, France, from 2-5 December 2014. Highlights on WEG's stand will include the new W22 permanent-magnet motor, which is one of the first motors to qualify for the IE5 Ultra-Premium Motor designation, as well as the company's new standard induction W50 and W60 motors, and the popular CFW500 variable-speed drive (VSD).
The IE5 W22 motors have energy losses approximately 20 per cent lower than the Super Premium models, which puts them among the first Ultra-Premium motors on the market to fulfil the present criteria for the potential IE5 energy efficiency class; it is therefore one of the most efficient electric motors currently available.
Yves Jamet, projects and marketing manager at WEG France, comments: "EU Motor Efficiency Regulations come into effect in January 2015, so energy efficiency is high on the industry's agenda. The new legislation stipulates that IE3 induction motors, or alternatively IE2 motors driven by frequency inverters, must be used in industrial appliances. WEG has raised the bar for energy efficiency with the introduction of the W22 permanent-magnet series, continuing to help engineers maximise the energy efficiency of their processes."
Compact three-phase induction motors
Other motors from WEG being shown include the W50 and W60 range. These compact three-phase induction motors deliver reliable performance even under adverse conditions. The motors are likely to be used in pumps, compressors and fans, and are suitable for many industrial applications. The design has been optimised to make the motors more compact than their predecessors, resulting in lighter weight, smaller dimensions and a reduced footprint.
The larger of the two, the W60 range, is available as a two-pole or four-pole motor, in frame sizes from IEC450 to IEC650 with power ratings from 800 to 4250kW and rated voltages from 2300 to 10,000V. The W50 series is similar in design and construction, featuring high power density. W50 motors with are available with two to twelve poles in frame sizes from IEC315 to IEC450, rated from 90 to 1280kW and rated voltage from 440 to 6600V. Both feature low noise and vibration levels thanks to sturdy construction and the high-quality iron cast frame and shield.
Cost-effective VSD with embedded micro-PLC
Complementing the motors will be WEG's CFW500, a cost-effective variable speed drive with embedded micro-PLC. The CFW500 range features technology that delivers a high level of control, at an affordable price, enabling manufacturers to improve processes and make significant cost savings. These drives include a built-in micro-PLC, are based on a modular plug-and-play design, and are said to be easy to use and program.
With extensive experience in the sector, WEG offers a wide range of alternators to meet the requirements of different applications in virtually any environment. POLLUTEC will be an opportunity for WEG to show the new range of AG10 alternators.
