See new smart sensors at Drives and Controls 2016Leuze electronic, “The Sensor People”, will be presenting additions to their Smart Sensor range. These are competitively priced yet high-performance products that are designed to be easier to specify, configure and install.

The new RSL 400 Safety Laser Scanner series has a Scanning angle of 270 degrees, operating range up to 8.25m and can be configured easily via Bluetooth and Ethernet TCP/IP. The RSL430 can do the job of two Scanners due to two completely autonomous protective functions and two pairs of safety switching outputs. This addition to the range the RSL 440, expands the series of safety laser scanners with a device with a very impressive range of functions. The winner of the 2016 GIT Security Award offers 100 field pairs or 50 quad pairs and up to 10 independent sensor configurations. It is thus especially well suited for mobile applications.

Leuze’s new ODS 10 measuring distance sensor with an operating range of 50 to 8000mm and an accuracy of +/- 30mm detects objects and measures distances with a diffuse reflectance of 6 to 90 per cent and a consistency of up to 4mm. It excels with its high degree of tolerance with respect to angle of incidence, colour, surface structure and brightness of the reflective material, and delivers reliable measurement results even in the case of misaligned or fast moving objects. Large control buttons, a clearly visible status display on the front as well as the OLED display allow easy commissioning and diagnosis at the press of a button.

In bar code reading technology, the Blue Laser Light BCL600 range achieves 50 per cent greater depth of field than readers using red light. This gives an unbeatable advantage when reading codes with a very small module width. With a scanning rate of 1000 scans per second, the BCL 600i high-speed scanners can operate in very fast processes. The code reconstruction technology (CRT) enables codes to be read multiple times, each time with an offset, then using the overlapping elements, the individual fragments are merged together by the software to recreate a complete result. Even partly damaged or soiled codes can be decoded. This increases the reading rate and, thus, the system availability.
