Last month the EC published a new list of Machinery Directive harmonised standards. Several changes are to B-Type standards that are applicable to most machines, and these changes have either taken effect already or do so at the end of this month, giving little or no time to prepare unless you have already.

Updated Type-B standards include those relating to control systems (EN ISO 13849-1), machine guards (EN ISO 14120), emergency stops (EN ISO 13850) and hazardous emissions from machinery (EN ISO 14123).

As usual there are also numerous changes to C-Type (machine-specific) standards, so check our summary to see whether any of these affect you. There is a link to this summary in the Useful Resource item below.
