The latest list of Machinery Directive Harmonised Standards was published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJ) on 9 September. This includes changes to B-Type standards relating to permanent means of access and fire prevention and protection. In addition there are a number of new and updated C-Type standards for classes of machine ranging from bale wrappers and generating sets through to forestry machinery and hand-held reciprocating saws. Follow the link to see a summary of the latest changes to the Machinery Directive Harmonised Standards.

Still on the subject of the Machinery Directive, the European Commission has just launched a 12-week public consultation on the evaluation of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. This runs until 16 December and takes the form of an online questionnaire that is available in English, German, Spanish, French, Italian and Polish. If you have any opinions on the way the Machinery Directive has been operating, now is the time to have your voice heard.
