WEG's CFW-8 range of compact drives has been extended and improved with a host of new features, including power ratings up to 15kW, an improved control card, and new communication network interfaces - such as CANopen and DeviceNet. Designed for operation on centrifugal pumps, process dosing pumps, fans, exhausters, agitators and mixers, extruders, conveyor belts and many others, the compact CFW-08 drives integrate the latest DSP (digital signal processing) and 16bit Space Vector Modulation technologies for optimised motor control and quiet operation.
The new CFW-08 range of compact drives are said to be a good example of how users do not have to compromise on drive size, performance, ease of use or price. The range of special functions available, combined with flexibility and ease of use, gives the CFW-08 the ability to satisfy the a broad range of application demands across global markets. It is aided in this respect by wide certification from world bodies CE, UL, C-TICK and IRAM.
Two control modes can be used, V/F and sensorless vector, and teh drives include a host of special features, including 'S' acceleration and deceleration ramps, local remote control, DC braking, torque boost, motor slip compensation, jog, ride through, multi-speed (up to eight speeds), maximum and minimum adjustable speeds, two skip frequencies, flying start and many more.
V/F control mode is suited to variable torque loads and includes a selectable energy-saving feature, which reduces motor losses when operating at lower speeds. This control mode also permits the drives to operate in multi-motor applications where more than one motor is served by a drive.
Sensorless vector control allows the drive to control the speed and torque of a motor, enabling the CFWO8 to be used on demanding duties such as extruders, conveyors and rewinders.
Extending the operating scope of the CFW08 range is a comprehensive range of options, providing maximum application flexibility. These include Superdrive, WEG's own software program for drive control from a PC or PLC, and RS232 and RS485 communication modules.
