Photoelectric sensors withstand exposure to oils and coolantsifm electronic is introducing the O6 400 series miniature photoelectric sensors that are designed specifically to withstand oils and coolants, with a rugged stainless steel housing providing the first line of defence and scratch-resistant glass optics and oil-proof seals providing an 'impenetrable fortress.'

The superior performance of ifm's O6 range of miniature photoelectric sensors has led to their widespread use in a short space of time, and the new O6 400 series will expand the application potential even further.

O6 400 series sensors feature a housing with standard 1-inch mounting centres and are offered in four sensing configurations with PNP and NPN versions available. The through-beam and retro-reflective versions provide long-range sensing with 10m and 5m ranges, respectively, while the diffuse sensor detects objects at 600mm. Described by ifm as probably the best-performing background-suppressed sensor on the market, the O6H senses reliably at 200mm without any influence of background materials, however reflective – including high-visibility clothing!

All versions are sealed to IP68 (which to ifm means extended testing in coolants, in this case) and are supplied with M8 connectors, for which ifm electronic offers suitable matching cables from the EVC range, also rated for use with coolants.
