2011 Lee Spring catalogue includes stock and custom springs
Lee Spring's new 178-page stock and custom spring catalogue is now available. The Series 17.0 catalogue lists over 17,000 products, 12 different spring types, special and custom spring design options, plus spring selection kits. In addition, there is a wealth of useful engineering data to ease selection. Collectively the contents are claimed to amount to the largest portfolio of springs available from one source in Europe.
For the first time the catalogue also includes the company's innovative LeeP plastic composite compression springs and Bantam mini compression springs as well as new sizes of wave and compression springs.
Spring rates, and hence the load at solid height figures, of the plastic composite compression springs have recently been improved by up to 30 per cent. This increased specification results from refined manufacturing techniques. Possessing the strength of metal and the characteristics of high-performance engineered thermoplastics, plastic composite springs present a totally different set of attributes compared with metal springs.
More than 60 new sizes of REDUX wave springs have been added to the stock spring product listings. These springs perform a similar function to compression springs but they take up to approximately 50 per cent less compressed height space due to their sine wave design that enables contact to be made tangentially. They also offer greater control of axial movement and consistent load transfer.
Completing the line-up of new products are 87 new sizes of instrument-grade compression springs that are featured alongside an increased focus on custom spring design and manufacturing services.
In total the stock spring offering includes standard, instrument and die compression springs, extension, wave, constant force, continuous length, Lite Pressure, torsion and battery springs plus Belleville spring washers.
Materials of construction extend from Ultem PEI (polyetherimide) engineering plastics through to music wire, stainless steel (types 302 and 316) and Elgiloy (a cobalt-chromium-nickel alloy). Printable specification forms that simplify the ordering of stock springs and specials - such as conical, swivel hook and drawbar springs - are included within the reference section. A spring technology glossary, information on specifications and tolerances, geometrical solutions and conversion data complete the catalogue.
