The A1335 from Allegro MicroSystems Europe is a new 360 degree contactless high-resolution programmable magnetic angle position sensor IC designed for use in digital systems in automotive and related applications involving rotating shaft sensing.
This new device has a system-on-chip (SoC) architecture with a front end based on circular vertical Hall technology and programmable microprocessor-based signal processing. It supports multiple communication interfaces including I2C, SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface), and SENT (Single Edge Nibble Transmission).
In addition to providing 360 degree angular measurement, the A1335 also provides two options for on-chip linearisation: harmonic linearisation to handle applications that require side-shaft magnetic configurations; and segmented linearisation for scaling angle measurement applications requiring less than 360 degrees of motion (so-called "short stroke' applications). It also includes on-chip EEPROM technology, capable of supporting up to 100 read/write cycles, for flexible programming of calibration parameters.
In addition to the advanced output linearisation algorithms, other digital signal processing functions include temperature compensation and gain/offset trim, helping to provide a very accurate and linear output for both end-of-shaft applications and challenging off-axis or side-shaft applications.
The A1335 is suitable for automotive applications requiring high-speed 360 degree angle measurements, such as electronic power steering, transmission, torsion bar, and other systems that require accurate measurement of angles.
Allegro's A1335 is available as a single die in a 14-pin TSSOP package or a dual die in a 24-pin TSSOP package. Both packages are lead (Pb) free with 100 per cent matt-tin leadframe plating.
