Schroff is launching a new family of 19in plug-in units that feature a slide-in cover plate, providing a significant reduction in assembly time compared with screw-on cover plates.

Known as Frame-type plug-in unit PRO, the new range is designed to protect PCBs from mechanical damage and electrostatic discharge while maintaining the airflow necessary for effective thermal management.

These new plug-in units consist of two extruded side panels, a front panel, a rear panel and two cover plates, which can be specified with or without perforations. As well as providing excellent ventilation, the perforated cover plates can accept guide rails for mounting additional PCBs. The rear panels, which can be removed without extracting the PCBs, are offered with cut-outs for single or multiple connectors.

Designed in accordance with the mechanical dimensions of IEC 60297, the plug-in units are available in heights of 3U or 6U, depths of 167mm or 227mm and in a range of widths from 8HP to 42HP.

In addition, the new family includes versions designed to accommodate a single Euroboard-format PCB. Comprising one extruded side panel, a front cover and a perforated hood with integral rear panel, these versions are also available in heights of 3U or 6U and depths of 167 or 227mm, with widths ranging from 5HP to 14HP.

All variants of the Frame-type plug-in unit PRO can be specified with or without a textile gasket for EMC shielding of the front panel.
