Having been well received on its introduction in the spring of 2007, the BFPA Hose Assembly Technology (HAT) scheme is soon to benefit from the development and introduction of a new element that amounts to a 'foundation course' based on Safe Practice When Working with Hose. The new element covers the basics of hose technology with a strong emphasis on safety, with the ultimate aim that everybody working with hydraulic hoses will have completed the 'foundation' element prior to commencing the full HAT course.

The aim is that all companies involved with hydraulic hoses, in any capacity, will have at least one employee trained, qualified and functioning to HAT 3 level, thereby adding another chapter to the training success story.

Interested parties can keep up to date with developments by clicking on www.hydraulichosesafety.co.uk.

It has long been recognised that a well-developed, quality training scheme is one of the surest ways to raise professionalism within the workforce whilst at the same time improving safety, output quality and customer satisfaction. Companies who embrace training schemes such as those offered by the BFPA therefore find themselves better able to compete in local and global markets. Only BFPA-affiliated companies who have achieved Centre approval are authorised to deliver the HAT training qualification.

A list of BFPA-affiliated companies is available on the organisation's web site www.bfpa.co.uk or by telephoning the BFPA direct on 01608 647900.
