Developed by ITT Interconnect Solutions, the Trident connector system is targeted at engineers creating electronic designs for harsh environments (such as military, aerospace, transportation, industrial, etc.). To further enhance this interconnection product and enable it to be incorporated into designs for even the most uncompromising of conditions, the company has augmented the contact structure employed.
Delivering a better degree of alignment, the new and improved T2P contacts ensure more secure mating, as well as easier assembly/disassembly. This means total elimination of damaged contacts due to misalignment, with the resulting inconvenience of contact replacement thereby avoided. These stamped and formed contacts are available in either tin or gold plating (depending on the application requirements), and AWG14-AWG26 wire sizes. All have a current rating of up to 16A. They are highly durable, capable of exceeding 200 mating cycles. In sealed system designs (using the Neptune sub-series), where contacts occasionally need replacement, the improved design prevents any damage being sustained to the grommet on removal/insertion.
The connectors are now suitable for an even broader range of application areas. These include vehicle dashboards, air conditioning/cooling systems, junction boxes, robotic systems, automotive power train infrastructure, and camera equipment.
