A standard for automated small-parts storage

To optimise its in-house processes, BEEWEN Automation has developed a standardised solution for guiding cables and hoses in its automated small-parts storage systems together with TSUBAKI KABELSCHLEPP.

A standard for automated small-parts storage

BEEWEN Automation develops intralogistics systems with a focus on automated small-parts storage. The portfolio comprises storage and retrieval machines, shuttle systems with lifts, and individual solutions. Customers expect not only innovative ideas, but fast and flexible implementation as well. By standardising cables, connectors and cable carriers, the company was able to significantly reduce the development and implementation time for its systems.

This was made possible through a cooperation with TSUBAKI KABELSCHLEPP. Under the TOTALTRAX name, the experts for cable carrier systems develop customised integrated solutions consisting of cable carriers, cables, hoses, and connectors as well as all other required system components. Together, the companies developed a strategy that focuses on consistent standardisation without restricting the individuality of the BEEWEN products.

The standardised integrated systems are based on the UA1455 cable carrier from the TSUBAKI KABELSCHLEPP UNIFLEX Advanced series. The quiet and lightweight all-rounders meet the customer's request for a standardised cable carrier type that can cover a number of different requirements - always tailored to the specific machines and ambient conditions. In addition to this, the new standard includes the following criteria:

1. Pre-assembled cables, hoses, and connectors: The cables are pre-assembled at TSUBAKI KABELSCHLEPP, including the appropriate connectors. This significantly reduces the assembly and installation times.

2. Clear markings: Each cable or hose has a label to enable fast installation and easy replacement even after many years of use.

3. Standardised item numbers: A system with only three variables that describes the entire cable carrier, including all specific cables, hoses, connectors, assignments, and the cable carrier type, will enable BEEWEN Automation to automatically determine the price of customised cable carrier systems in the future.

In addition to the development time, this has also reduced delivery times thanks to a clear structure of the variety of different items and the streamlined processes. At the same time, the individuality of the BEEWEN products has been retained because the pre-assembled systems from TSUBAKI KABELSCHLEPP can be flexibly adapted to the requirements of the respective end customer.
