ABSSAC stamps its mark with edge welded bellows

ABSSAC supplies dependable edge-welded bellows and assemblies, it states. Engineers in a broad spectrum of industries rely on bellow products for the highest cycle life, responsive design, wide material selection, and leak-tight performance. Metal bellows provide an all-metal pressure barrier and seal that flexes in one or more directions.

Edge-welded products are manufactured using hydraulically stamped sheets of metal, usually in hastelloy, titanium or stainless steel in a round or rectangular configuration. The precision stampings are then sequence-welded together, ID to ID then OD to OD, to build a stacked bellows structure.

Perfect seal

Using plasma, laser, arc or electron beam welding equipment to form a perfect seal, the stack can be produced to a specified length, ultimately making a one-piece flexible bellows structure. Once the bellows is constructed, end plates, flanges or other attachment designs are then added to each end.

By nature of its design, the highest stroke length can reach 90% of its free length, as the generic flexibility allows the bellows to expand and contract as needed.

“It is this expansion and contraction that can be accurately predicted per bellows, even under extreme temperature and pressure environments in both liquid and gaseous environments,” adds ABSSAC.

Wide success

“The edge welded bellows have been successfully used in numerous applications involving bellows accumulators, bellows actuators, mechanical seals, vibration dampeners and volume compensators, to name a few.”
