3D Systems is launching Accura Xtreme plastic for stereolithography systems. This addition to the company's family of proven and dependable Accura materials facilitates the efficient design, development and manufacturing of products by enabling production of early prototypes having improved durability and functionality. Accura Xtreme plastic is now available for beta testing by qualified customers.
An extremely tough and versatile material, Accura Xtreme plastic is designed for functional assemblies that demand durability. Due to its high elongation and moderate modulus, Accura Xtreme plastic is suitable for many papid prototyping and rapid manufacturing applications. Accura Xtreme plastic's properties closely mimic those found in moulded ABS and polypropylene, which are major production plastics.
In addition to its outstanding mechanical properties, Accura Xtreme plastic is said to feature lower viscosity and higher processing speeds than other materials in the marketplace, resulting in easy operation, fast part creation, and quick cleaning and finishing with less waste, making it more cost-effective.
Abe Reichental, 3D Systems' president and chief executive officer, comments: "With Accura Xtreme plastic, we have created a strong, yet flexible material that resists breakage and produces a high-quality part. Consistent with our commitment to lead through technology, 3D Systems is defining the future of the rapid prototyping and manufacturing industry with solutions like Accura Xtreme plastic that enable durable prototyping and quick turnaround times for efficient designing, developing and manufacturing. We believe that the availability of materials like our new Accura Xtreme plastic will open the door to new applications and enhance our customers' bottom lines."
