Air conditioners for demanding environments

For its new Hoffmann stainless steel A30S4E industrial cabinets, Pentair offers the Hoffman T-series of air conditioners. Designed for particularly demanding applications in harsh environments, these air conditioners satisfy the requirements particular to their installation site - typical applications include those in the oil and gas industry and similar situations.

Air conditioners for demanding environments

The A30S4E cabinets ensure ingress protection to IP66 and meet the IK10 and NEMA Type 4X industry standards. The T-series air conditioners are available in a powder-coated steel plate version to IP56 or, for highly corrosive environments, as NEMA type 4X in stainless steel. They feature environmentally friendly R134a or R407C coolants and robust compressors with an operating temperature range from -40degC to 55degC.

Each model is available for different supply voltages (115, 230 and 460V AC) and in a range of cooling capacities (235 to 9192W). The optimal cooling capacity is supported by washable, reusable aluminium filters. Standard equipment on these units includes pressure regulation, compressor heating, coated condenser, fault indicator, mechanical thermostat and cabinet/enclosure heating. The air conditioners are certified to UL/cUL, CE, GOST, NEMA 4X and Telcordia GR-487. In addition, all components used are corrosion resistant and conform to the RoHS Directive.

For environments subject to very high levels of dust or spray water (e.g. deserts or oil platforms), Pentair recommends its Hoffman PROAIR series of air conditioners. These units are also available either in powder-coated or stainless steel versions and use the environmentally friendly R134a coolant for operating temperatures from -40degC to 55degC, with cooling capacities of between 400W and 2000W achievable.

Compared with the T-series, these air conditioners feature an additional cover that further protects them from ingress of dust or water. Should customers require greater convenience in thermostatic control or networking options for fault warnings and status checks, the Hoffman SPECTRACOOL range of air conditioners is recommended.

Anywhere where the ambient temperature is very high and the environmental conditions are dirty, humid or aggressive, Pentair offers a further special cooling option with the Hoffman Vortex A/C cooler. The Vortex A/C cooler operates on the vortex cooling principle and can deliver cooling capacities of 100W to 750W. It is thus suitable for smaller cabinets or enclosures and for localised cooling of components. This cooling system is also suitable for areas with explosion protection and can be used as a hybrid cooling option in conjunction with a heat exchanger or an air conditioner.
