Schunk GmbH & Co KG had completed the integration of its subsidiary Amtec robotics into the head office by the end of January 2007. From now on, sales and services for the mechatronics business unit will be handled by the automation business unit.
Amtec robotics, previously located in Berlin, is a global leader in building and developing modular robotic components. It offers modular systems for lightweight modular robotic arms and gripping systems, which help customers build complex robot structures themselves. The basis of the modular concept allows building of industrial as well as service robotic applications from standardised modular components that are cost-effectively produced in large quantities.
Roland Tschakarow, Mechatronics Division Manager in the automation business unit at Schunk, summarises the advantages of the integration: "With the complete integration of Amtec robotics into the business unit of automation, we now centralise our efforts in the head office hence increasing our focus and competence, too. At our head office our customers have access to the complete knowledge and components of industrial automation - from gripping and swivel modules, linear axes and robot accessories, to the modular robotics and the industry-specific functional assembly groups."
