Analogue signals easily digitised with PReasy 4222

The universal input and user-friendly configuration of the new PReasy 4222 converter from PR Electronics allows users to digitise temperature and analogue measurement signals with ease.

Analogue signals easily digitised with PReasy 4222

PR electronics' 4222 is the latest addition to the company's PReasy series that can be configured extremely quickly by way of the detachable display 4501. This converter accepts all commonly used industrial signal types and is well suited to any application where temperature signals and analogue measurement signals need to be converted to a frequency signal.

When you are configuring the converter, there is no need to take out the manual. The detachable display 4501 comes with scrolling help texts in seven freely selectable languages, thus guiding the user safely through all the configuration steps. All user options are selected by way of the front keys on the display and the user is completely independent of PCs, DIP switches and jumpers. Process data and unit status are shown in the display and the configuration can be copied quickly and easily from one 4222 to other 4222 modules.

The input of the 4222 has been designed to accept V, mA, TC, RTD, potentiometer and linear resistance signals. The frequency output can be selected as NPN, PNP or TTL output and the span of the frequency signals is freely selectable in the range 0.001Hz to 25kHz. Flexibility is the key, and this is also reflected in the universal supply, which ranges from 21.6-253V AC / 19.2 - 300V DC, irrespective of polarity.

Special functions

The display 4501 can also be used to calibrate the converter to suit all process input types. In addition to all this, it is, among many other things, also possible to perform process simulation and protect the chosen configuration with a password.

In addition, the PReasy 4222 bears the mark of PR electronics' strong focus on safety and efficiency. The new converter features galvanic isolation of 2.3kV AC between input, supply and frequency output. In case of a sensor error, the user is alerted via the display and the frequency output. Furthermore, the 4222 performs an advanced auto-diagnostics and indicates the function status in the display or by way of the front LED. PReasy 4222 complies with NAMUR NE21 (Burst), the Low Voltage Directive (LVD) and UL 508.

PR Electronics describes the PReasy 4222 as 'the safe short cut from analogue to digital signals.'
