Automation products and services from a single source

Pilz has consistently been at the forefront of safety technology and today the company has a broad range of components for control functions and safe automation systems. But Pilz also aims to utilise its considerable expertise and knowledge of safety markets and technologies so as to be a 'one-stop' supplier of machinery safety automation products, systems and services.

Automation products and services from a single source

With this in mind, Pilz has expanded in to the area of sensor and actuator technology, and now offers an extensive portfolio of products. This is complemented by a wide range of machinery safety consultancy services and a series of machinery safety and product-related training courses, all provided through the Pilz International Services Division.

Recent market developments have seen safety technology being integrated more closely with standard control. Pilz has responded by utilising its knowledge of automation systems and adding standard control products to its portfolio, the pinnacle of which is the PSS4000 automation control system. This innovative system is designed for seamless integration of safety, standard and motion control, visualisation and diagnostics; furthermore, with the accompanying PAS4000 Software Suite, all aspects of an automation project can be accessed via a single interface.

Steve Farrow, Managing Director of Pilz Automation Technology in the UK, feels that the company has far exceeded its original ambition: "Pilz can now be considered as a serious 'one-stop' provider of complete solutions for any automation project."

Product range

Included in the Pilz range are: safety relays; configurable safety controllers; programmable safety systems (safety PLCs) for use with or without the SafetyBUS p safe, open industrial fieldbus network; safe motion control systems; mechanically actuated and non-contact guard switches; safety light curtains; 2D and 3D vision-based safety sensors; emergency stop switches; conventional and touchscreen operator interfaces; control and monitoring relays for non-safety applications; plus the PSS4000 Automation System, incorporating the SafetyNETp fieldbus network.

A wide variety of independent consultancy services is offered, including risk assessments, plant assessments, CE marking, SIL determination, safety checks and safety advice. Engineering services range from the design of safety systems and the production of schematics, to software development, the production of validation/verification documentation, and general application support.

Pilz provides a number of training courses focusing on compliance with regulations and standards, and further courses relating to its own products and systems. Pilz is an approved City & Guilds Training Centre and offers several unique City & Guilds machinery safety courses. Courses can be run either at the Pilz training facility in Corby or at a client's site. If required, bespoke training courses can be created to cater for the specific needs of organisations and trainees.
