AWS Electronics invests in 5th SMT line at UK facility
AWS Electronics Group has invested in a new surface mount technology (SMT) line at its UK manufacturing site. Continued growth in demand for the turn-key offerings from AWS has fuelled the need for what is now the fifth fully automated line in the facility.
The new line allows for greater flexibility, efficiency and the additional capacity to build more PCAs, supporting the requirements of both new and existing customers. The line comprises a DEK printer, three new JUKI pick-and-place machines and a HELLER reflow oven.
Jamie Maughan, AWS Group Operations Director, comments: "We are delighted to see our UK site continue to grow with several large new customers over the past 12 months. This, coupled with increased sales with our existing customers, has seen a requirement for more capacity. With this new line we are proud to be able to meet the rise in demand and also increase our future growth. Further, we have expanded our workforce for the increase in unit assembly and test."
