New BML magnetic linear encoder system

With its new high-precision incremental magnetic linear encoder system, Balluff is adding another operating principle to its product line. Intensive development has resulted in a trouble-free product featuring resolution down to 1um and system accuracy of +/-10um over a maximum measuring distance of 48m.

BIS M meets ISO 14443 and ISO 15693 standards

Automated production and assembly places a variety of demands on RFID systems, especially in terms of the required detection ranges. In systems operating at a transmission frequency of 13.56MHz, short and longer ranges are achieved using different data carrier technologies that are defined in separate standards. Balluff's BIS M identification system meets both standards (ISO 14443 and ISO 15693) by means of user-settable parameters.

RFID technology with industrial Ethernet

Identification systems based on industrial-rated RFID technology are becoming increasingly common in automated production and assembly. Balluff now offers a variety of industrial Ethernet systems for all four of its RFID families.

New sensor mount for slot sensors

Slot sensors are generally mounted by means of user-constructed holders. Since they need to be made individually, these mounting devices tend to be expensive. Furthermore, the application flexibility of slot sensors means that new holders have to be designed for every application. But now all sensor sizes can be accommodated using just two mounting bars from Balluff, thereby reducing the time required for installing and positioning slot sensors to a minimum.

New fibre-optic base units

With its BFB 75K series, Balluff introduces three new fibre-optic base units using red light. The devices are designed for DIN-rail mounting. The fibre-optic base units are available as the Basic model with an 8-bit converter and a switching frequency of 1.5kHz, and an Advanced model with a display for demanding applications and fast processes. Here the signal is processed with 12 bits and a switching frequency of 8kHz. The Premium version also features an analogue output.

Globalprox inductive proximity sensors

The name Globalprox covers a new, full-feature, globally available product line of inductive sensors from Balluff: a wide range of standard sensors, with everything from a single source. Whether M8, M12, M18 or M30, or three-wire or two-wire – every version, housing size and international standard is claimed to be available anywhere in the world. By adding unshielded types with extended switching distance, the offering of new sensors is considerably expanded, with all the global standard approvals such as CCC, CULUS and CE.

BOS 5K photoelectric sensor

This sensor is particularly suitable for tight mounting conditions. It is said to be one of the most rugged sensors in its class, and cannot be damaged by overtightening. Its six-turn potentiometer enables precise setting of the switching point. Discrimination between object and background is precise and colour-independent.

BOS 18M laser diffuse sensor

The BOS 18M sensor is claimed to be the most precise sensor with laser background suppression in a tubular housing on the market. The highly visible, narrow light beam can even look through small holes and makes the sensor useful for applications in small parts detection down to 0.1mm, such as in wire detection. How precise the background suppression is illustrated by the fact that even the thickness of a business card can be identified. Detection is accurate regardless of colour. With 6 per cent grey value shift, the background can even be brighter than the actual object.
