BJF Profiling invests in Tubematic tube laser cutting machine

BJF Profiling (Formerly BJF Lasers) has further strengthened its production capabilities with the recent acquisition of a Trumpf Tubematic tube laser cutting machine. The versatile tube profiler provides high-volume laser cutting of multi-profile tubes and pipes. It can handle mitre cuts, angle cuts and form cut-outs.

The new laser tube cutting technology enables BJF Profiling to process tubes at far lower manufacturing costs in comparison to conventional methods such as sawing, drilling, milling and punching. It also eliminates the need for multiple machine tools that are used for these more traditional techniques.

BJF's key markets, which include civil engineers, specialist engineers, fabrication industries, general engineers and machine manufacturers, will benefit from the expanded portfolio of profiling made possible by the purchase of the Tubematic cutter. Tube elements are an important component in today's assemblies and machine construction; they are used in different shapes and sizes as components in pipework construction, frames, supports and trusses. Their strength and lightweight structure mean they are economic to produce. Because the use of laser technology lowers manufacturing costs, this will enable BJF to offer competitive prices using a form of profiling that is faster and more accurate than alternative techniques.

The Tubematic uses a finely focused laser beam as the cutting tool with the resulting cut edges smooth. In one single operation, holes and complex contours are produced and the tube cut to size for a completely finished part. The tube profiler can also adjust to different materials and part geometries at the touch of a button.

Bernie Faiers, Managing Director for BJF Profiling, says: "We are delighted to have acquired the Trumpf Tubematic. This machine further complements our capabilities for laser cutting of tubes. The benefits of laser tube cutting include almost unlimited cutting configurations, the elimination of stack-up tolerances inherent in multiple operations, no tooling charges and reduced lot sizes. This machine further complements our capabilities for laser cutting of cylindrical tubing and rectangular boxes."
