Budget photoelectric switches have background suppression
IDEC Electronics is introducing SA1E miniature photoelectric switches with background suppression. The aim of the SA1E range, to which the latest products are a new addition, is to provide a truly low-cost alternative in the main application areas for photoelectric switches. Prices start from just £31.
Measuring only 36 x 19 x 11mm, the SA1E switches provide through-beam, retro-reflected (uses a reflector plate) and diffuse/spot reflected options (reflects from the object). A range of up to 700mm can be achieved for the diffuse switch and up to 10m is possible for the through-beam transmitter/receiver pair. There are two connection methods offered, either by a built-in cable or M8 connector. Matching M8 cables are available of different lengths.
The background suppression types (range 20-200mm) allow the range to be set to only detect the objects passing in front of the lens at the specified distance; objects of different colours present no problem. Also the background, because it is beyond the set range, will not cause the switch to operate.
This remarkable switch has a supply range of 12-24V DC, a switching speed of 1ms and, as it is sealed to IP67, can operate in the harshest of environments. Range adjustment is by potentiometer and an operating LED is provided.
