Misumi UK Ltd supplies mechanical components for factory automation and special-purpose machinery. To aid this process, Misumi has developed a CAD data facilities to provide customers with a design portal for all the company's components. Similar to standard design software widely used within industry, the Misumi CAD portal goes one step further to offer over 100,000 standard or customisable mechanical components in increments of 0.01mm.
The Misumi CAD portal is at www.misumicad.com. Using a choice of search tree, search by picture, or product terminology such as 'slide guides' or 'ball screws', the user can locate the required component in seconds. Once located the designer/engineer can customise the component in increments of 0.01mm using Misumi's product coding system and download in the CAD file in over 15 formats. With a similar layout to that of most CAD packages, the portal benefits from easy navigational tools, wire-frame and solid-mapping component views, and all the traditional toolbars to make it easier to create and review parts.
Available in both 2D and 3D format, DXF, DWG, DWF, STAT, STEP, IGES, VRML are just some of the file types available for download via the online portal. Alternatively, the Misumi CAD data CD offers direct insertion, along with aforementioned configuration functions. What the user can do here is run both the Misumi CAD disc and their preferred CAD system and insert the components directly into their parts drawing with just a click of a button. The main benefits are obvious: no drawings required, plus the direct link with the CAD package to design, check the geometry, limits and fits between the component and your model, and then redesign the component if required in a simple few steps. Some of the compatible packages are: AutoCAD, CATIA, Inventor, Mechanical Desktop, Pro-Engineer, Solid Edge, Solidworks, TuboCAD and more.
Also available via the portal is an automated quotation facility where users can add the parts to a bin and send an enquiry directly to Misumi sales to receive a speedy, competitive quotation. If the user prefers traditional catalogue methods, PDF files and the hardback catalogue can all be obtained via the misumi website, along with the CAD data CD.
Misumi supplies a wide range of components, all from one catalogue: ballscrews, slide guides, linear shafts, linear bushings, couplings, set collars, pulleys, XY stages, locating pins, low-head cap screws and even standard items such as castors, handles and washers can be delivered in days. Materials, dimensions and special machining requests can all be specified.
