New book: Profinet in Practice

A new book by Dr Xiu Ji is titled Profinet in Practice: Installation, Maintenance, Design and System Engineering. Dr Xiu Ji is based at the Profibus & Profinet International Training Centre (PITC) at Manchester Metropolitan University. The book is intended to help answer the need for guidelines on optimising the design of Profinet networks, for good engineering practice in installation, troubleshooting and maintenance.

Control Techniques has launched a free, five-year warranty for its Commander range of general-purpose drives. Anyone who purchases a drive from the Commander range will now be able to register to extend the products' warranty from two years to five, at no extra cost.

Panasonic Industry Europe signs global agreement with Siemens

Panasonic Factory Solutions, a division of Panasonic Industry Europe, has signed a co-operation agreement with Siemens Factory Automation Services. The factory automation products and systems from Panasonic Factory Solutions were able to convince after thorough testing and Panasonic Industry Europe was announced as a supplier for the SMD production of the Siemens AG.

WEG's condition monitoring and automation products at SPS 2019

WEG is presenting a new gateway for WEG Motor Scan as a highlight at SPS 2019 (Stand 466 in Hall 3A). The condition monitoring offering presented last year as a retrofit option enables real-time monitoring of WEG electric motors for predictive maintenance purposes. The collected data can now be transferred to a secure cloud using gateway technology, in addition to the previous option of using a smart device app with Bluetooth. Users can access the data in the cloud through the app or the WEG IoT Platform web portal. This enables detailed analysis of the monitored motors. Additional highlights include the updated CFW500 and MW500 variable speed drives.
