Northern Manufacturing & Electronics, which is described as the North's top industrial technology show, returns to EventCity, Manchester on 2 and 3 October 2019. Updated CAN profiles for safety encoders and weighing devices

The nonprofit CAN in Automation (CiA) association has released new versions of the CANopen profiles CiA 406 and CiA 461. CANopen is internationally standardised in EN 50325-5. This European standard specifies the CANopen application layer and communication profile.

Potential of light-based navigation in industrial applications

In a German Federal Ministry of Education & Research (BMBF) joint project, OSRAM, Götting, KEB Automation and Fraunhofer IEM have researched the possibilities of light-based positioning, particularly for use in industrial applications. At the end of the project, the team came to a promising conclusion: navigating by light is practical, flexible and reliable - and promises great potential for Industry 4.0.
