Honeywell Process Solutions and SKF have launched a joint pilot project aimed at developing Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) solutions. The pilot project, at a copper mine in Latin America, aims to create a digital standard for improved machine efficiency, reliability and competitiveness for industrial customers.

SKF's new fully automated and digital production process

SKF's operations in Sweden are set to be given a boost with the inauguration of a completely new, fully automated and digital production process in Gothenburg, adapted for the manufacture of spherical roller bearings. The new production unit is the first of its type to be put into operations within the SKF Group and is part of a programme of next-generation manufacturing technology within the company.

Excelsys to exhibit at Laser World of Photonics

HBM research shows video in data collection is increasing

A recent survey conducted by HBM shows that video use is accelerating in data collection. The study shows that almost half of the respondents (47 per cent) already use video in data recording today, while 54 per cent of the respondents expect video use within their organisation to increase in the next year.

Belden demonstrate "TSN Ready" switches at Hannover Messe

Belden Inc. used this year's Hannover Messe to show that switches supporting Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) are becoming a reality. Prototype TSN-enabled Hirschmann RSPE35 switches that support this open, real-time Ethernet technology were shown in demonstrators at various booths throughout the show. These included the booths of the Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC) and the OPC Foundation, as well as those of Sercos International and SmartFactoryKL.

SICK opens up the HIPERFACE DSL interface

SICK is opening up its HIPERFACE DSL (Digital-Servo-Link) interface to all users. When launched 6 years ago, the interface made a single cable servomotor a reliable proposition for the very first time. Following the rapid adoption of the One Cable Technology, SICK has decided that the interface it invented will now be available as an open protocol.
