WEG CFW500 solar drives convert DC to AC for off-grid motors

WEG is unveiling a new optional kit for its CFW500 series of variable speed drives (VSDs) that facilitates pump motor control through photovoltaic (PV) solar cells. The state-of-the-art CFW500 Solar Drive comprises a plug-in module to simplify set up and installation, complemented by a rich feature set that offers a host of user benefits. Phoenix Contact launches intelligent Ethernet extenders

Phoenix Contact TC extenders don't just extend simple point-to-point Ethernet paths via Plug-and-Play. All extender paths and devices can be easily monitored remotely using a single managed device via IP address. In the case of unexpected events such as a weakening of the path, this information is available via SNMP trap (Simple Network Management Protocol) and can be issued as a warning to one or more freely selectable network devices. Visitors to the SPS IPC Drives trade show in Nuremberg are able to get a closer look at this application at the main Phoenix Contact booth.

A4/ASTM 316 stainless steel fasteners for corrosive environments

With the addition of molybdenum, A4 stainless (ASTM 316) is significantly more resistant to corrosion than the more popular A2 (ASTM 304) and very little more expensive. Although A4 stainless is often referred to as marine grade, Challenge Europe have noticed an increasing need for this highly cost-effective grade to meet the demands of non-marine industries where equipment is subjected to more demanding service conditions.

ESAB upgrades Columbus III software and CutCloud

ESAB Welding & Cutting Products demonstrated its new Columbus III version 1.6 CAD/CAM software for mechanised cutting at EuroBLECH, which took place in Hannover, German in October. The new ESAB CutCloud 3.0 version utilises Microsoft Azure IoT and the ThingWorx Industrial Innovation Platform from PTC, which respectively allow for on-premise, hybrid and cloud based architectures and functionality to import and visualise machine data.

Check your control panel designs with AR and VR

Control panel designers can explore their creations in detail without waiting for them to be built, thanks to the virtual reality support facilities in EPLAN Pro Panel -CAE software for the design and construction of control cabinets, switchboards and flexible power distribution systems in 3D. The latest versions of the EPLAN software can export designs - including panel layouts and enclosure details - in the widely used VRML (virtual reality modelling language) format, which is compatible with most virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) visualisation systems.

Parker adds enhancements to H Series ISO valves

Parker Hannifin, as part of its global focus on factory automation, is adding an expanded range of features and capabilities to its H Series ISO pneumatic valve platform (with flow ranging from Qn 540 to 5900 Nl/mn). Designed with a new universal manifold, the H Series ISO valves provide the opportunity to mix ISO 02, 01, 1 and 2 valve sizes on one common manifold without transition blocks. This ability allows right sizing in the field and the ISO design supports easy interchangeability for additions or changes to the valve and manifold assembly.
