Automotive supplier benefits from versatility of UR10 cobot

RARUK Automation has supplied a Universal Robots UR10 collaborative robot (cobot) to BWI Group's Luton plant, which specialises in the assembly of complete suspension modules to the global transportation market. The UR10 is currently employed tending a blow-moulding machine, where completed parts are extracted every 25 seconds and placed in containers ready for shipping, saving on the need - and cost - of having a human operative in attendance.

ADS doubles profiling speed with 10kW Trumpf TruLaser

Leicester-based ADS Laser Cutting has invested in a new Trumpf TruLaser 5030 fiber with 10kW power source, effectively doubling the speed at which it can profile components. With the machine, ADS also becomes an early adopter of new Trumpf technologies such as Active Speed Control, while a further feature of the installation is a LiftMaster Compact load/unload automation system, which enables lights-out operations.

Award-winning SURTES Formula Student team uses igus cables

A team of undergraduates at Surrey University are pioneering Formula Student in the UK with an all-electric powertrain. Formula Student is the world's largest student motorsport competition, which brings together teams from universities across the world. Team SURTES (Surrey University Racing Technology Engineering Solutions) operates out of the Engineering Design Centre in Guildford. Four years ago, the team started implementing its first ever electric powertrain.
