CMOS linear image sensors offer improved performance

Hamamatsu Photonics is introducing a new range of CMOS linear image sensors, the S10111 and S10112 series with 50micron pitch pixels, and the S10113 and S10114 series with 25micron pitch pixels. The image sensors incorporate up to 1024 individual photodiode elements with CMOS buffer amplifier, digital shift register (multi-plexor) and signal processing circuit (correlated double sampling noise reduction circuit, "CDS') all on the same monolithic silicon chip.

These new CMOS devices provide higher UV sensitivity and smoother spectral response than previous types, as spikes in the UV spectral range have been removed. In addition, the new S1011x series allow variable integration time for each pixel, enabling end users to extend the effective integration time.

This range of CMOS image sensors can be used in analytical instruments such as portable spectrometers. Applications for these products include industrial process control, spectrophotometers, precision colorimetry, blood analysers, water pollution analysers and many more.
