Compact, lightweight enclosures for machine vision cameras
autoVimation is promoting its recently launched Colibri series machine vision camera enclosures that are compact, lightweight and cost-effective, while providing IP66 protection from harsh operating environments.
Colibri enclosures are designed for cameras with a cross-section of 29x29mm or 30x30mm and lenses with a maximum diameter of 40mm. With only 10mm space between the camera and the outer enclosure wall, they add very little to the camera's size. Weighing just over 400g, they are also highly suitable for mobile applications.
For the Colibri enclosures, autoVimation has simplified and miniaturised the patented heat guide / quick lock mounting system; the cameras now only need to be fixed inside the housing from one side (either at the front or at the back). Colibri housings themselves are attached to machines via a newly developed dovetail profile system with a 30mm width. Additionally, adapter clamps can be used to achieve compatibility with the 40mm wide dovetail profile of the company's modular construction kit.
With a diameter of only 28mm, the window opening allows for the use of wide-angle lenses, since these can be installed directly behind the front window. An M25 cable gland with a large sealing insert allows for feedthrough and sealing of several cables with plugs and diameters of up to 21mm. Moreover, a rear enclosure wall with an industrial IP67 PoE plug connection is currently being developed. The enclosure lids are optionally available with tamper-proof Pin Torx screws which prevent unauthorised persons from misadjusting the camera lens.
