Compact photoelectric sensors for high-volume installations

Banner Engineering is introducing its next-generation S18-2 compact photoelectric sensor series. These self-contained, DC-operated sensors provide an economical sensing option for cost-sensitive and high-volume installations. Built with Advanced ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) technology, the diffuse mode S18-2 sensors are resistant to fluorescent light and offer a high level of crosstalk avoidance.

Banner S18-2 sensors feature a powerful and bright visible red emitter beam that reaches up to 25m (82 feet), which allows for easy alignment and set-up. For ease of use, the S18-2 sensors also offer a highly visible output, and dual-function power and stability indicators. The indicators comprise one green and two yellow LED lights. Solid green indicates power is applied and the sensor is ready, while green flashing specifies a marginal sensing signal. The two bright yellow LEDs, visible from both sides of the sensor, indicate the output is conducting.

Dennis Smith, Technical Marketing Manager, Banner Engineering, says: "In today's competitive automation markets, reliable sensing is crucial for maintaining product quality and machine productivity. Banner's S18-2 photoelectric sensors are designed to provide reliable sensing performance at a competitive price point to meet our customers' need for high-speed automation and non-contact sensing."

Featuring a rugged ABS plastic housing, the S18-2 sensors are well sealed against water ingress. A wide operating temperature range of -40 to +70degC ensures optimal performance for diverse applications. For increased flexibility, diffuse models provide a robust 250 degree sensitivity potentiometer. Learn more about the S18-2 photoelectric sensors by visiting www.bannerengineering.com.
