Control valves designed for aseptic applications

For control valves used in aseptic applications such as food processing and pharmaceutical production, it is important to eliminate traps, crevices and other areas that might increase the potential for bacteria growth. Control valves that have smooth, cavity-free internals also help to promote effective CIP and SIP (clean and sterilise-in-place) and also aid self-draining.

Control valves designed for aseptic applications

Samson Controls offers a range of valves that incorporate these features and are manufactured to quality assurance systems certified to ISO 9001 while also meeting stringent FDA requirements. For example, the type 3347 control valve has polished steel parts to ensure a high standard of purity for the process medium, special PTFE bushings, together with an additional steam line connection to meet very stringent purity requirements, thereby preventing bacteria from spreading at the actuator stem guide.

Another example is Samson's type 3249 valve, which is equipped with an EPDM diaphragm and a back-up safety packing box to ensure total protection against bacteria spreading and to prevent product leakage. These sealing systems, which constitute the main components of the valve construction, have been designed to ensure a long and reliable service life.

Finally, Samson's type 3345 cavity-free valve body, with a diaphragm made of rubber, nitrile, butyl or PTFE, acts both as a seal and a valve plug. It is therefore suitable for process applications that involve pasty, fibrous or highly viscous products.

These valves can be easily installed into the process line because they are available with various connections including hygienic couplings, flanges and clamp connections according to ISO 2852, as well as welding ends.
