Leuze electronic is launching a range of 318B cylindrical photo-electric sensors that are said to achieve a combination of high performance and innovation at a low price. These sensors offer a robust, IP67 plastic housing with reliable detection, and an ingenious mounting arrangement that makes alignment very quick and simple.
The new 318B cylindrical sensors improve upon the traditional method of using an M18 hole for mounting by providing fast and simple alignment at no additional cost. The supplied mounting nuts can be reversed to create an omni-mount swivelling mount in which the nuts' curved surfaces enable the easy and secure fastening of the sensors at any angle within +/-8 degrees in all directions. This special feature, which Leuze says is unique, dramatically speeds the setting of the sensor and, therefore, reduces the installation cost.
Installation costs are reduced further by the sensor having a highly visible brightVision light spot and a bright LED status indicator.
Robust and reliable switching is ensured by the combination of the active suppression of extraneous ambient light, which is called A2LS, and the use of a two-colour LED indicator that provides condition monitoring by showing when the sensor is still working but finding detection harder than expected. These features provide resistance to external interference and advance warning of problems.
The new 318B cylindrical photo-electric sensors are also offered with a flush-mounting option for applications where it is necessary to provide additional protection against physical damage.
The 318B cylindrical photo-electric sensors are available now and will be on show at the Drives & Controls exhibition (NEC, Birmingham, 17-19 April 2012), or follow the link for more information.
