Davall Gears has commissioned a new Gleason-Pfauter P400ES CNC shaping machine tool. This 500k investment will enable the company to more efficiently produce both spur and helical gearing, utilising electronic controls to remove the need for expensive mechanical guides. This electronic guide system increases flexibility by eliminating the requirement to change guides for different leads and handings, while increasing the capacity to cut two or more gears in a single setup. This capacity, in addition to a Gleason eight-axis CNC gear grinder, enables Davall to supply some of the highest quality gearing currently manufactured in the UK.
The P400 ES will routinely achieve AGMA 9-10 grade (ISO 7-8 quality) manufacture without the need for gear grinding, with a workpiece diameter (internal and external) of 400mm. The machine is also fitted with an additional two-axis control for manufacturing tapered internal and external spur and helical gears.
Simon Parry, Davall's Sales and Marketing Manager, states: "This investment is the latest commitment to our strategy of expansion. It will also enable us to continue to provide customers with exceptionally high quality components."
Using its extensive CAD design and test facilities, Davall describes itself as one of the major manufacturers of custom precision gears and gearboxes in the UK, supplying into the military, aerospace, medical and commercial markets.
