Dawson Shanahan celebrates 10th anniversary of FloForm in Wales
Dawson Shanahan is celebrating 10 years since the buy-out of FloForm and manufacturing at its plant in Welshpool, Wales. It's been a decade since Dawson Shanahan came to the rescue of FloForm, a manufacturer of automotive parts based in Welshpool, Wales. As a business that had been in decline over a two-year period, the company finally went into administration in 2009 and 80 jobs were sadly lost.
Hertfordshire-based Dawson Shanahan took the decision to purchase the business and all its assets. They made the strategic decision to retain the Welshpool site and re-instated 12 employees.
Dawson Shanahan had been in business with FloForm for 30 years; they knew the staff with their skills and expertise had to be harnessed. They moved all operations from Potters Bar, Hertfordshire to Welshpool, an important strategic decision and part of its ongoing success today.
Les Reeves, Joint Managing Director of Dawson Shanahan explains: "Although we initially thought we'd move the existing plant and machinery to our Potters Bar headquarters, on meeting with the FloForm employees, it quickly became apparent that they possessed skills, expertise and enthusiasm that was crucial to our future success. In addition to this, those who had worked for FloForm for many years had a real loyalty to the company and shared our determination to build a successful business.
"FloForm customers became our customers. We were able to continue delivering customised components with our specialist knowledge of precision engineering. Since then, and indeed for over 75 years, we have continued to serve and grow our customers in automotive as well as across many other sectors including aerospace, packaging and power generation.
"We are thrilled to celebrate this milestone and continue our role in the local community as well as growing our operations over the next ten years and beyond."
