The majority of Detectamet detectable products are available in a choice of colours. Until now there have been a total of eight colours available for customers to use to reinforce their HACCP management system.
Specific colours can denote use in specific areas, or for specific purposes. If red equals high risk then red pens in a low-risk green area or green pens in a high-risk area would trigger a potential cross-contamination alert. The eight colours are red, blue, green, yellow, orange, brown, black purple and white.
Sean Smith, Detectamet's CEO says: "We have now added pink" "because we have had general enquiries for an additional colour and some specific requests for pink."
Detectamet say that they can offer the new colour across the range of products normally available in the "regular eight colours'. These include pens, plastic clip boards, labels and tags, scrapers and jugs, clips and the new colour can be requested for products made for a customer's special purposes.
Like the original eight colours the new pink polymer will provide protection from contamination because it is detectable by metal and X-ray detection systems. So a "lost' pink pen will be "found' if pieces end up in finished products passing through standard detection systems.
To mark the introduction of the new pink Detectamet will donate 10 per cent of the profits it makes from "pink products' to Candlelighters, a Yorkshire-based Children's Cancer Charity. Candlelighters provide essential services and support to children with cancer and their families.
