Digital stepping motor drive offers exceptional performance

Micromech is introducing the Danaher Motion P7000 digital stepping motor drive. Danaher's digital step motor controls are claimed to bring a unique level of system smoothness, functionality, high-speed performance and innovation, being designed to power any two-phase NEMA step motor. Their features make them excellent for single- or multi-axis applications that demand high-speed performance or low-speed smoothness.

Digital stepping motor drive offers exceptional performance

The P7000 AC Drive accepts input voltage from 90-265V AC (single-phase, 50/60Hz) from a broad range of power sources. The continuous current is 2.5A and the microstep peak current is 3.5A. They can provide a maximum shaft power of 525W and a speed range from 0-50rev/s. Motor inductance ranges 50-200mH (320V DC bus) and 7-30mH (160V DC bus)

The DC version accepts input voltage from 20-75V DC, continuous current of 5A and microstep peak current is 7.1A. The speed range is the same at 0-50rev/s, while the maximum shaft power is lower at 300W and motor inductance is 2-15mH.

High-specification features as standard

While this compact P7000 is pre-configured for a full-line of standard Danaher stepper motors via on-board switches or easy-to-use graphical user interface (GUI), it can also power any two-phase NEMA step motor. Other features of this drive include: idle current reduction to lower motor heating and cut power consumption; a motion profile generator that makes indexing capabilities available (-PN option); stall detection so that no encoder feedback is required; and anti-resonance control that minimises mid-speed torque loss.

The designers have included motor wave shape tuning and current auto tuning to give remarkable low-speed smoothness. To enhance the low-speed performance still further, it has multi-stepping and high-resolution capability.

These new features are included in the standard unit's price, which is said to be extremely competitive compared to other drives.
