EcoCup all-electric vacuum cups are fast and quiet

DE-STA-CO is promoting its EcoCup electric vacuum cup that it recently launched. Unlike conventional vacuum cups, the patent-pending EcoCup does not require compressed air to operate, so it is easy to integrate in factory automation or as end-of-arm tooling on industrial robots; the EcoCup simply draws 0.5A from a 24V DC supply connected via an industry-standard M12 connector. In addition, the EcoCup is said to benefit from ultra-fast actuation (25ms), noise-free operation and reduced maintenance costs. Units have been tested for 5million cycles, so reliability and longevity are assured.

Suitable for for pick-and-place or workholding applications with flat, rigid, non-porous parts, the recommended load for the EcoCup is up to 0.45kg. However, DE-STA-CO says that higher loads of up to 1.8kg can be accommodated if acceleration and deceleration rates are reduced. Of course, multiple EcoCups can be used in parallel if higher payloads must be moved (see photo). Cup diameter for the EC40 EcoCup is 41.3mm and the overall height is 53.5mm. Duty cycle is 50 per cent (half on, half off) for a maximum of 120s per cycle, and the operating temperature range is 5-60degC. In the event of the nitrile cup requiring replacement, this is achieved easily and quickly, either with the EcoCup removed or remaining in place on the equipment.

Options available to extend the versatility of the EcoCup include a Scara robot mounting plate, an M12 connector with rotating coupling, and DE-STA-CO can also supply customised mounting plates for applications utilising multiple EcoCups.
