Edgecam 12.5, the latest version of Planit's CAM system for NC part programming, manufacturing and production engineering, has been certified by Autodesk for its Inventor 2009 CAD software.
Simon Lee, Edgecam international sales director, comments: "We are delighted to have achieved certification for Autodesk Inventor 2009. As Autodesk's preferred CAM partner, it allows us to offer customers a seamlessly integrated system as well as enhance Edgecam's position as the leading software for milling, turning and mill/turn programming."
Full associativity between the two programs ensures that when design modifications or deletions are made, Edgecam automatically regenerates the NC code to reflect the changes. In this way, true data integrity is assured, eliminating any loss of data and preventing downtime, even in the case of last-minute changes.
Edgecam 12.5 offers a greater capacity to store intelligence in the CAD model, which in turn significantly improves automation of the CAM process.
This new release, in conjunction with Autodesk Inventor 2009, offers ease of use and sophisticated toolpath generation. Individual parts and assemblies can be loaded directly into Edgecam from Autodesk Inventor and all changes are integrated and updated automatically, resulting in significant programming time savings.
Simon Lee continues: "Edgecam 12.5 is highly intelligent and provides improved data management, leading to efficient manufacturing processes. Compatibility with the latest technology has, and will always be, fundamental to the development philosophy of Edgecam. Our certification with Autodesk Inventor 2009 confirms this."
This certification reinforces Planit Holdings's aim of focusing on its core activities and becoming global market leader in the provision of CAD/CAM products to the manufacturing industry. The rebranding of Edgecam, Jobshop and Radan creates a stronger link between the three entities as one leading, global business offering a range of complementary products.
