EEF Brexit hotline: help with Government's technical notices

EEF is launching a dedicated Brexit hotline that businesses can call for expert advice following the UK Government's publication of the first technical notices on what they can expect in the event of the UK crashing out of the EU in March 2019 with no deal having been agreed.

While EEF welcomes the increased clarity for businesses, it is urging the Government to publish the remaining notices as soon as possible so companies can have the full picture of what a no-deal scenario will mean for them.

The decision to allow importers to defer VAT payments is very gratefully received and is something EEF has campaigned hard for with Government in order to protect the 145,000 businesses in the UK that are above the VAT threshold.

EEF's dedicated Brexit hotline will help companies understand the implications of the technical notices. EEF Brexit experts are also analysing the technical notices and publishing easy-to-understand summaries on the EEF website.

While it is clearly prudent that the UK Government plans for a no-deal Brexit scenario, EEF says it remains confident that a deal will be secured with the EU, and the EEF will continue to work with Government Ministers to help secure this.
