Elmo Solo Whistle saves servo application design time

Development time and resources required to design new servo applications can be reduced, or potentially even eliminated, using the new Elmo Solo Whistle from Inmoco. The Solo Whistle fits into the palm of the hand, yet is a ready-to-use integrated product designed to simply and efficiently connect Elmo's Whistle servo drive directly to an application.

Elmo Solo Whistle saves servo application design time

Solo Whistle's compact design provides excellent flexibility for OEMs, enabling the servo drive to be mounted anywhere - in the motor, in the machine, on the load or even attached to a moving part. By reducing cabling and installation time, this cuts costs and simplifies maintenance for end-users.

Although highly compact, the Solo Whistle nevertheless integrates Elmo's SimplIQ technology, which has been developed to deliver fast and powerful implementation of sophisticated motion control systems. This technology combines advanced motion control with real-time networking capabilities, and delivers a wealth of feedback options, programming capabilities and standard communication protocol support.

In addition to delivering excellent power density and efficiency, the Solo Whistle incorporates all the key features necessary for fast and problem-free integration of motors and drives into machines. The servo drive incorporates a digital motion controller that features CANopen networking, a position loop, a velocity loop, a current loop and a very wide range of feedback and I/O options. It also offers OEMs the benefits of ELMO's Composer software. Using the Composer programming software, drive set-up, configuration, tuning and analysis are all performed quickly and easily to aid integration into machines.

A wide range of feedback options aid easy integration of the Solo Whistle. These include an incremental encoder - up to 20 mega-counts (5 mega-pulse) per second; digital Halls - up to 2KHz; an incremental encoder with digital Halls for commutation (up to 20 mega-mounts per second for the encoder); an interpolated analogue sine/cosine encoder - up to 250KHz (analogue signal); a resolver (programmable 10-15 bit resolution); a tachometer; and a potentiometer.
