AWS has set up a dedicated Fast Track service at its newly expanded Newcastle-under-Lyme facility. The company guarantees to quote in under 48 hours and will assemble PCBs within 5 days of materials procurement. The service is available for low-run production volumes as well as prototyping activities and is not limited to basic single-sided PCB technology; complex multi-layer PCB assemblies can also be accommodated.
By consolidating its manufacturing in two sites, Newcastle-under-Lyme in the UK and Namestovo in Slovakia, AWS Electronics has been able to invest in the latest manufacturing technology, and has set up an SMT line and assembly area in the UK plant dedicated to Fast Track business. Technical engineering teams see projects through from start to finish, implementing DFM and DFT techniques to assure build quality.
Paul Deehan, AWS Group CEO, comments: "Fast Track orders are handled by a separate project work flow team, so there is no disruption of scheduled production orders. Once a project has been assigned, an operator takes full responsibility for that job, seeing it through all stages of assembly. Our clients often have very exacting technical requirements; they also demand the highest quality levels. Yet deadlines - especially at the design stage - are often very tight, so delivering a new prototype on time is critical. We replicate volume production processes within the Fast Track line so that we know a build is viable when it eventually goes into full production."
AWS Electronics has increased the scale of both its Fast Track and volume production assembly capabilities in response to a significant upturn in business that the company is experiencing. Deehan adds: "Europe is still a vital design and manufacturing region, which is why we need state-of-the-art facilities to support customers throughout their product lifecycles".
