ESD safe fixed-mount barcode imager now available from Microscan

Electrostatic discharge (ESD) and the damage it can inflict on sensitive components is a significant source of yield, rework expenses, and warranty returns. Manufacturers in industries such as hard disk drive, printed circuit board assembly, and semiconductor require barcode traceability solutions, yet work with electronic components which can be damaged by even small amounts of static electricity. Manufacturers require high-quality, permanent 1D and 2D barcodes and are increasingly turning to laser etching and other DPM techniques as a replacement for printed adhesive labels.

Microscan's new miniature fixed-mount barcode imager can be safely and easily integrated into any ESD-sensitive assembly process to read 1D and 2D barcodes directly marked on each part. In addition to the most aggressive decoding available, X-Mode technology provides easy setup and deployment in nearly any automation application. The RoHS/WEEE-compliant MINI HAWK ESD Safe additionally includes autofocus, visible performance indicators, and both high-speed and high-resolution configurations.
