Ex-certified connectors are rated to 1500A
Amphenol Industrial Operations is introducing RoHS-compliant, rugged connectors that are rated to a maximum of 1500A in power applications. These versatile Star-Line EX connectors are certified for use in Zone 1-llc hazardous environments and are suitable for harsh-environment applications such as wind farms and oil/gas exploration, as well as industrial manufacturing and processing.
Star-Line EX electrical connectors provide a fast and safe interconnection to modular equipment. They come with solder, crimp or pressure terminals, thereby eliminating the need for hard wiring to terminal blocks enclosed in junction boxes, and offering significant time/cost savings during equipment installation or tear-down. In addition to stainless steel or brass casings, the Star-Line EX series is also available with a lightweight aluminium casing that is precision-machined from high-strength bar stock and finished with a hard-anodised coating to 40 points on the Rockwell C scale.
The Star-Line EX Series features a dielectric strength of 1800V and heat resistance up to 399degC (750degF). Furthermore, Amphenol offers an extensive range of interchangeable and reversible backshell arrangements and contact inserts, including power (up to 1500A at 1000V), signal (up to 143 contacts) and mixed power and control configurations. The copper contacts are silver-plated as standard but the option for gold plating is available.
