Exico has joined Lammers, an international group of companies that supplies a wide range of electric motors, drives and related equipment. Lammers traces its history back 70 years to its founding in Germany and is still headquartered in the town of Rheine in Westphalia. It also has a major operations base in Budapest, Hungary. As well as supplying motors and drive systems, the group has pioneered methods for ensuring efficiency in the maintenance and repair of large electric motors and has also established a subsidiary that focuses on control and automation technologies.
Exico is well known in the UK, although the name was unused for a period following a takeover by a conglomerate. The company was re-established in 2014 with ambitious plans to grow and service many sectors of the British economy. Sales Director Lucie Hodkova recalls: "In the motors industry you need to be big enough to service clients properly, so we targeted first year growth to a turnover of 1m."
She is proud to say that following the Lammers agreement, for Exico's customers it is business as usual. The name Exico Electric Motors Ltd will continue to be used and all relationships with clients and suppliers will be maintained. There will be no changes to Exico personnel, computer systems or software tools - they will all remain the same.
However, as part of the Lammers Group, Exico's services are now backed up by around 175 employees and it has direct access to a stockholding of over 80,000 motors.
Exico's Managing Director Jerry Hodek says: "The expertise and experience available through the combined Exico-Lammers team is exceptional, so we will continue with our high level service approach to customers' needs. The quality of our European motors is excellent and the range encompasses a huge variety of powers, sizes and formats; standard and special designs. We also hold certifications in many fields including ATEX and marine motors."
Both Exico and Lammers also offer complementary products such as variable speed drives, softstarts, generators, gearboxes and couplings. They are also able to provide systems building, testing, repair and maintenance services. Many of Exico's staff speak German, Hungarian or other languages, while Lammers personnel are largely multi-lingual. Hodek notes the high degree of synergy, saying: "Together, Exico and Lammers are bigger, stronger, and better positioned technically as well as financially to provide a better service and practical help to our customer base."
Exico will be introducing the enlarged group and enhanced capabilities to UK engineers at the forthcoming Drives & Controls Exhibition at the NEC on 12-14 April 2016, Stand No. D836, where representatives from Lammers will be on hand to help with enquiries.
