For 2013, TV SD Product Service is expanding its machinery safety training portfolio, saying it is offering courses that fill gaps in the current marketplace.
The first course is Electrical machinery safety - an introduction to EN 60204-1. EN 60204-1 (BS EN 60204-1 in the UK) sets out the requirements for electrical equipment of machines to ensure that people using the machine are safe, control responses of the machine are consistent, and that the machine may easily be maintained throughout its lifetime.
This one-day course introduces the standard and gives delegates an overview of it in order that they can understand its requirements and the application of electrical, electronic and programmable electronic equipment and systems to ensure the electrical safety of machinery in industrial installations.
The second course is Functional Safety for machinery. The aim of this one-day course is to equip delegates with information about the scope and main design requirements of the current functional safety standards for the machinery sector, and to give an appreciation of how to apply their principles.
Finally, there is The Practical application of Functional Safety for machinery. This two-day course starts with the above one-day course, but adds a practical day, applying the knowledge gained on the first day to real-life case studies. Through the use of commonly available software, the practicalities of carrying out functional safety assessments are demonstrated, with delegates having the opportunity to be guided through the processes involved.
