Compared with alternative ways to create a threaded hole, the SEI fastener is said to reduces hardware requirements. It also allows for right-angle assemblies and is a good alternate to self-clinching fasteners.

Easily installed by rotating in the side of the panel, the SEI fastener is available in two internal threads, #6-32 and M4. Furthermore, it can be easily removed by pinching the spring leg and rotating.
