FDT Group reports on a successful roadshow

The first FDT Roadshow in the Middle East took place in the Kingdom of Bahrain on 9 May 2007 with an impressive number of 160 participants, of which over 100 were end users. The day combined presentations on the latest news about the FDT Technology and the sharing of experiences between users and manufacturers of FDT/DTM-based products.

Jim Sprague of Saudi Aramco gave the key note speech, pointing out the benefits of FDT from an end user's point of view. His key message was that "FDT provides the interoperability that is required between devices and systems for effective Asset Management."

Other highlights were a live demonstration comparing FDT and EDDL-based devices, and a workshop in which participants could gain hands-on experience of FDT-based products from different suppliers. The programme also included several technology presentations and two case studies about existing FDT applications. The audience showed a keen technical interest and got involved in discussions with the FDT experts.

The twelve FDT Group member companies ABB, Endress+Hauser, Honeywell, Invensys, Metso Automation, Pepperl+Fuchs, Rockwell Automation, Samson, Turck, Vega, Woodhead, and Yokogawa participated in the event with table top exhibitions, showing their latest FDT/DTM-based products.

Flavio Tolfo, Managing Director of the FDT Group, concluded after the event: "The strong response from the end users demonstrates the interest in the FDT Technology in the Gulf area and in oil and gas applications. We are very pleased by this success and plan to make this a recurring yearly event in the area."
